Things to do in KOLKATA (part2)

Hope you guys liked the previous article on the Kolkata series of blogs. If you haven't read that go check it out first because it is the continuation of that. You can find it in the lifestyle category of articles or else here is the Link to it.

So continuing on from where I left, just a quick recap I finished watching the Jorasanko Thakur Bari. After exiting from the Thakur Bari I was wondering where to go next. I was walking in the streets aimlessly then suddenly I found a very big, old yet very beautifully constructed building. The name of the building is Lohia matri seva sadan. Many of the beggars and homeless people were sitting on the steps of the front end of the building. I got so excited seeing that I could not resist myself from entering into the building without taking permission from anyone though I got into trouble for that read along to find out still I don't regret my decision at all.

I won't suggest you guys to do what I did because we should respect other's privacy. Now enough of the disclaimer the main story begins now. I had no idea what that humongous building was all about so I asked a local about it in the streets. From his statement, I got to know that the building was made during the British era and was a hospital for many years now this place is abandoned completely and sometimes used for the shooting of short films.

Completely ignoring all that he said the only 2 words that got stuck in my mind was “abandoned” and “hospital”. Though it was broad daylight still I felt a sudden adrenaline rush inside me and went inside the doors of the building. I took a lot of images so you can get a clear indication of how the feel of the place might be like. The first thing I saw there was an old-school elevator which you guys might have seen in movies.

The whole building was empty but still, some sounds came in my ears like someone is talking on the phone, so my curiosity arose more and more I wanted to know who is living in this abandoned place. After roaming around all the other floors and finding taking some amezing picyures for you guys to see I reached the top floor.

Now the fun part begins I did not know that there were any residents living in that building, but suddenly I found out actually there is a family living on the top floor of the building and they quite obviously got disturbed as I was taking pictures of the inside of the building but I couldn't help myself it was so beautiful. So they were asking whose permission I took before entering in the building, I got very scared I was alone and I had to come up with a suitable explanation of this whole situation as early as possible. So I had to lie to them I said: “I want to make a horror short film and was looking for a location to shoot, and there were no security guards at the gate so I thought why not take a look at this place.”

I really don't know how they believed what I said and also gave me the number of the person who owns that building and said that I should take permission of the owner before shooting in the building. So this is how I escaped that horrible situation but the memories I had of that place is very good and scary at the same time as I was totally alone at that time. I will attach a lot of pictures of this place so that you can get an idea about how the place might look like from inside.
