Kolkata has a rich history of street food and one of the best places to relive that history is
Esplanade. In this article, I am going to mention some of the street food items which will surely tickle your taste buds.
The main plus point of having street food is it is usually cheap but one complains people usually have is they are not hygienic But the places which I am going to mention here are all very clean and hygienic places to eat and they also serve their food very cleanly.
I am going to list it out in a manner where you can eat all of them in one day in the same sequence from starter to dessert everything is there. It is kind of a menu of street foods.
Samosa Chat: Starting of your street food expedition you can have Samosa Chat. This is more of a starter in our menu today.

So if I have to describe what is samosa chat then I would say it is 2 samosas crushed in a plate served with chana masala and some chutney and masala. The samosas are very crunchy and serving it with chana masala is a great concept. They also pour some chutney over it.

There is a sour and a sweet chutney the choice is yours along with some spicy masala. This place is just on the corner from where you enter madan street. I will leave the exact location here. They are selling it for the last 65 years in that exact location. And the price of it is just 20 rupees and for that money, it is a very good snack to eat.
Dosa and Idli: Continuing on if we come to the main course Dosa and Idli are on our menu. You can have this just in front of the Roxy cinema hall.
Now differentiating from all the other south Indian food joints here they serve Idli in the sambar itself and also they serve it up with the coconut chutney on the top.

And to be honest the size of the Dosa is not that big but after hearing the price of it you can justify it.

Though with a cheap price you are not compromising with taste or hygiene. They make the dosa in front of you and serve it with sambar and coconut chutney. The Masala Dosa is 30 rupees and 2 idlies are for just 20 rupees.
Stuffed Corn: After the main course next on the list is some evening snack. For that, we have a very healthy and also very tasty dish on our menu.

It is called the stuffed corn, where they serve you corn, boiled in sweet water and mixed with many different types of masala and butter.

This place is just in front of the entrance of the Hogg market. I will recommend you to try the mango masala corn.

It has mango pulp honey and some special type of masala with a tinge of butter. It costs only 50 rupees. They also have many other combinations for you to try.
Falooda: Coming to the desserts we have Falooda. By origin, it is a Persian dish but it is very famous in Kolkata.

The falooda stall I am mentioning here is in the new market in front of the famous Nizam restaurant.
We also covered nizam in our previous article you can check it here. Falooda is a mix of small strings or pieces of jelly with milk, some rose syrup and served with ice cream with some chopped pistachios on top. This whole mouth-watering dessert costs only 20 rupees. This something you must try whenever you are in New Market next time.
Softy Ice Cream: At last you can finish your eating spree with some nice ice cream. You all probably had ice creams many times before we also have a separate article on ice creams you can check it out here after you finish reading this. This place is just opposite to the corn place we mentioned earlier in the article.

Opposite to the Hogg market, there is an alley and this shop is the second shop from the right side. They have chocolate and vanilla mix flavour and the best part is it costs only 10 rupees. You can grab this ice cream and eat while you are walking back to get a bus to reach home after a long day of food expedition.
So this was our list of street foods near the Esplanade area and as the time of writing this article, everything is below 50 rupees. if you guys know more such cool places please leave a comment.
