A Trip To Kolkata Gate..

Completely
opposite of the old and vintage kolkata the Rajarhat New Town area is the new
face of kolkata. With many high rise buildings offices flat and beautiful roads
it is becoming heartthrob of the city. With many tourist attractions like Eco
Park, Mother’s Wax Museum, Axis Mall snow park,City Centre 2 etc the Biswa
Bangla Gate is the newest member to this list.

As Kolkata
airport very close to it who ever coming to kolkata by flight has to enter the
city through the New Town area so it is aptly named as Biswa Bangla Gate.

t

Location: It is in New Town Narkel Bagan more 5 to 8 mins bus ride from the new town bus depot. Just near Rabindra Tirtha. I will leave the exact map location here.

How to reach:

  • Take any bus to new town bus depot
from your region and from their you will get many buses toward Narkel Bagan
    more.
  • Or you could come to Karunamoyee bus
stand and take a bus which is going toward airport.
  • And if you are coming from the
airport then take any bus which is coming towards saltlake.
  • Some of the buses you could get are:
    AC 4A, Rajchandrapur-Karunamoyee, S 30, AC 12 etc.

Recently I paid
a visit to the Biswa Bangla Gate and here I am going to share my experiences
with you.

The Biswa Bangla Gate design was made
public in 2015. The construction of the Gate started on 6 March 2017. The
construction of the Gate will use around 70 tons of steel . The total cost of
the construction of the Gate is expected to be around ₹25 crore. This gate is
about 55 meters high. The monotonous tunnel made for the viewers will be
approximately 25 meters above the ground. Visitors can climb up the lifts on
one side of the Gate.

If you want to visit you have to buy tickets online from HIDCO website or from BookMyShow. The ticket is worth 100 rupees each for 45 mins stay up there. The opening hours are 12 pm to 5 pm. After that from 7 pm to 10 pm you can book the whole place for dining.

After purchasing the tickets when you
visit the place there is ample parking space available. There is a sitting
lounge just beside the ticket counter and also clean and well maintained
washrooms.

There are 2 lifts to carry you up there
at one slot only max of 50 people are allowed. They won’t allow any bags up
there but you can carry camera and water bottles as of writing this article. Inside
the walls are very well decorated and many artistic paintings clocks and show
pieces are there for purchase. The view from up there is mesmerizing.

There is also a cafeteria with some light
snacks like chicken puffs, patties, pizza, sandwiches, pastries etc and for
beverages there are soft drinks, coffee and tea. The prices of the items are
decent you can enjoy the view while eating some of your favorite food.

Lastly if I have to conclude and share my
thoughts , according to me it is a must visit place though there is nothing
much to do up there but the peace and the view you will get from there is
totally worth it. But the 45 mins time is honestly a bit less because time just
flies up there and they are very strict in terms of timings they won’t let you
stay up there for even 1 min extra.
